Crumbling bridge in South Atlanta needs replacement

The Georgia Department of Transportation is seeking public input on a plan to replace the Ga. 42/McDonough Road Bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad.

The bridge, built in 1924, is located on McDonough Road between Lakewood Avenue and Milton Avenue. Currently one sidewalk and about eight feet of the roadway are closed to traffic because of the bridge’s deterioration. Concrete is cracking and buckling.
