It’s National Bike to School Day, and 47 locations in Georgia are participating.

In the city of Atlanta alone, they include Briarlake Elementary School, Charles R. Drew Charter School, Evansdale Elementary School and Morningside Elementary School.

The national event has been growing in popularity every year with support from the U.S. Department of Transportation. In 2012, there were 950 schools participating. In 2013, there were 1,705. Last year, 2,222. This year, more than 2,300 events are expected to take place nationwide.

If your school or your child participated, send me your pictures at asimmons@ajc.com. I’d love to post a few.
