Metro Atlanta roads clear

As of about 4 p.m. Wednesday, all the metro Atlanta interstates and state routes were clear of ice or snow accumulation as many people began making their way home from work early to beat the expected winter freeze.

Sleet was falling, but quickly melting on metro area roads, according to officials at the Georgia Department of Transportation Traffic Management Center.

However, in the northwest part of the state near Cartersville and Rome, some areas were starting to see snow accumulate on streets. GDOT is closely monitoring changing road conditions.
